Laurie is also currently supporting the relocation of BLS HQwith responsibility for the movement of all assets, network connectivity and personnel—from D.C. to Maryland.

What’s your favorite part of working at Tria?

This is my first program manager role, and I am grateful for the support I’ve received from my manager and corporate leadership. My administrative assistant for this contract is fantastic. I’d be lost without her.

What accomplishments during your time at Tria are you most proud of?

I am very proud of the team that we’ve built here. Everybody works together toward the common goal of providing excellent service to the customer, and we have achieved great success together. After earning the confidence of my supervisors, I was rewarded with the opportunity to become program manager. Since then, my team was able to complete the 2024 Annual BLS inventory with 98% accountability. This is noteworthy because we are responsible for twice as many assets as in 2023, and we completed the inventory in a much shorter period due to efficiencies we implemented. We are also ahead of schedule on the BLS office relocation.

How do you create a sense of teamwork with coworkers?

We have built a very diverse and inclusive team, and we all trust each other and have clearly defined roles. Throughout my career, I have always relied on open, frequent and transparent communication to promote teamwork. All our teams meet on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, including meeting with our government counterparts. We also have a daily stand-up meeting with the entire team. We are working to create more mentoring opportunities for employees who are looking to progress within their field.

What do you do in your free time?

I live by the Chesapeake Bay, in a town with many outdoor venues where I enjoy listening to live music on the weekends. I spend as much time as I can with my 9-year-old grandson and two adult children. I enjoy cheering on my grandson at his baseball games. I’m also taking up crocheting again; it’s a hobby I had a long time ago, and it’s a nice, peaceful way to spend some time.

What are a couple of things that people would be surprised to learn about you?

I never went to college. Almost everything I know I learned through on-the-job training. I’ve progressed in my career through hard work and a lot of tenacity.

I coached and managed multiple soccer teams up until my children turned 18. I was once voted “most likely to spontaneously break out into dance” by my daughter’s soccer team.
