LaShana Richburg is a proud “Disney adult.” While getting her master’s degree in Orlando, she frequented Disney World in her free time and even took a part-time hostess job at a Disney restaurant. At Tria, LaShana has received effusive praise from customers, including one who wrote: “She can take an idea for a project support need, work it independently, then bring back a result that is so polished it dazzles us.”
In your opinion, what’s the best part of working at Tria?
The sense of community. Since my first day here, we’ve found ways to keep connected even though we work remotely. I’ve connected with people I haven’t met in person who I value in my work environment. I know there are many people I can turn to for project advice or guidance when I need it.
Tell us about a recent achievement you are proud of.
My client team mentioned that they’d been trained on a collaboration platform called Mural. I didn’t know anything about it, but if the client shows interest in something, I take it on as a personal challenge to figure out how it could benefit our team. I learned Mural and came back with three complete murals – a type of flow chart – to make our work easier to read. Our director loved it, and she showcased it to other folks. And now other teams are asking me to help them create murals.
How do you create a sense of teamwork with coworkers?
I am in the unique position of being the only Tria employee on my contract. I reach out to Tria folks, especially new hires, to introduce myself and talk about the work I do. Through those introductions, four of us began meeting every month to discuss projects, strategy and life. I try to be a resource to people and make myself available.
I also enjoy connecting folks. I’ll reach out to someone and say, “Hey, I really think you should meet this person. You two have a lot of similar ideas, and you could collaborate on future project work.”
What do you do in your free time?
I am a Disney adult and not ashamed! I couldn’t even tell you how many times I went to Disney World and Universal Studios during the four years I lived in Orlando. I still go even though I’ve moved to New Jersey. I’m planning a trip for my birthday in August. I think it’s a fun escape from the real world and there’s something for everyone. Every time I go, I find something new and different than the last time. There are always show changes, special events and new restaurants to try. I enjoy being a Disney tour guide and vacation planner for family and friends.
Although I love to travel and explore the world, I spend most of my time with my American Eskimo Dog, Leo.
What is one thing that people would be surprised to learn about you?
Most people would be surprised to learn that I have been training as a CrossFit athlete for the past two years. I’ve gained confidence with working out and have never been stronger in my life. I’m working toward my first CrossFit competition on Aug. 24.
How do you hope to grow in your role in the months or years to come?
I’m looking into human-centered design training right now because it’s something my clients have been training in; I like to match what they’re doing and do a level above that. I also want to study for the Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification and Project Management Professional Certification.
