The interview, conducted on OrangeSlices AI’s GovCon Executive Slice podcast, comes nearly one year after Tria’s acquisition of Softrams.
“Tria is the right home for Softrams, as well as the right partner, that can help us to continue our mission with the same passion, integrity and commitment that we have for our users and customers,” Kanthamani told host David Blackburn.
Backed by Sagewind Capital, Tria purchased Softrams—a digital services firm with deep relationships with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services—to accelerate its technical innovation and expand its reach into federal health agencies, Borchert said.
Before the merger, 65% of Tria’s portfolio was in federal health, including the Department of Veterans Affairs and Defense Health Agency. Now, approximately 82% of Tria’s portfolio is focused on federal health, and the company’s remaining business comes from critical public safety programs.
“I can’t think of two more noble missions to spend time on: to keep Americans healthy and keep Americans safe,” Borchert said. The integration went smoothly because of Kanthamani and Borchert’s co-leadership and mission focus.
With the merger and integration complete, Tria is now well-positioned to identify bigger challenges and connect the dots across federal agencies.
Kanthamani said Tria is pivoting from a technology service provider to become a health tech company serving federal healthcare agencies. As such, artificial intelligence is baked into nearly every aspect of the business. Tria is enabling customers to access critical information in minutes—instead of hours or days—using natural-language prompts.
At the center of this transformation is Tria Labs, the company’s innovation hub built to test and deploy emerging technologies in government settings.
“We are the test lab on ourselves. How can I go sell a solution if I haven’t tested it?” Borchert said.
“We’re able to physically bring folks into the lab and we’re able to show them and simulate what it would be like in their environment,” he said. “We’re going to look for the best solution for that client.”
