Gloria Goodrum - Senior Payroll Accountant

A former college basketball player, Gloria Goodrum cheers on women’s sports teams throughout the Washington, D.C. area. Gloria is celebrating 13 years with Tria and its legacy companies in 2024.

What are your favorite parts of working at Tria?

I love that the work is challenging, and I get to learn new things. If you don’t know something, you can reach out to others to get the information.

I have met some lifelong friends here, including former coworkers who I enjoy staying connected with. I also like the camaraderie and sense of teamwork I have with my payroll coworkers.

I appreciate the work-life balance and being able to work from home. Tria understands that you need to have a life outside of your job.

What are a couple of accomplishments during your time at Tria that you are most proud of?

My biggest accomplishment was definitely integrating new payroll software. We switched to Unanet earlier this year, which was really exciting.

When we first launched Unanet, we worked nights and weekends learning the software and getting the kinks out of the system. It was critical to make sure we got it right. During the transition, if people asked, “What are your hours?” I would say, “My hours are however long it takes to get the job is done.” Tria has nearly 1,000 employees; making sure everyone gets paid on time feels like an achievement every time.

What’s an interest you pursue in your free time?

I’m from New Jersey, but I’m an all-Washington, D.C.-area sports fan. I am a season ticket holder for the WNBA’s Washington Mystics, and I support the University of Maryland women’s basketball team, the Lady Terrapins. I look forward to attending Washington Spirit games to cheer on professional women’s soccer.

I also enjoy teaching financial literacy to help people become financially stable and not just get out of debt but stay out debt. I’m at the point in my life where I want to create opportunities for other people.

What are some things that people would be surprised to learn about you?

I played college basketball for Rowan University in New Jersey. Playing sports helped me to understand the meaning of teamwork.

I have a 2-year-old beagle named Jake. He’s really saved my life; I’ve lost more than 60 pounds and my health has improved so much thanks to my long walks with him.

I’m also a pretty good ping pong player!

How do you find purpose in your role?

Payroll is my passion. It is one of those jobs that affects everyone. I love that my job touches literally everyone in the company. I’m constantly setting goals and establishing new processes so I can do my job more quickly and efficiently.
