Darrell Richards - Senior Product Architect

Whether diving into the latest advancements in artificial intelligence, mastering new technical tools, or expanding his programming repertoire, Darrell Richards thrives as both a mentor and a lifelong learner.
As a Senior Product Architect, Darrell is a driving force for innovation, inspiring his team to push boundaries while constantly sharpening his own expertise. When he isn’t running code challenges, securing contracts, and leading product and development teams, you can find him flying a single-engine airplane through the sunny skies of Florida.

What’s your favorite part of working at Tria?

My favorite part of working at Tria is primarily the people, but also the goals and impact we have on our end users. The people here are incredible, from top to bottom. As for our impact—we have the expertise and leadership to guide clients in understanding exactly what will be most valuable for their users or customers.

What accomplishments are you most proud of?

There have been a lot of accomplishments over the past five years, but a couple stand out. I was able to reach a key goal of mine of leading a new team; I am currently leading product and development teams for a Medicare program. I’m also really proud of helping to secure contracts with multiple agencies. This is vital because it enables us to continually expand our impact and improve the value we deliver to our clients.

How do you create a sense of teamwork with coworkers?

I believe in using humor to create a sense of teamwork. While work is serious and we need to get things done, a little humor can lighten the atmosphere and help everyone feel more comfortable being themselves. At the end of the day, reducing stress and adding some enjoyment to our daily routine makes the work environment much more pleasant for everyone.

What do you do in your free time?

I’m really into supporting Tampa Bays ice hockey and football teams and going on Caribbean cruises—honestly, I moved to Florida mostly for that reason! Just ask anyone I work with, and they’ll tell you, “Oh, Darrell’s off on Friday again…he’s probably heading out on another cruise.” My top three places I’ve been are Grand Cayman, Philipsburg in Sint Maarten, and Falmouth in Jamaica.

What is one thing AI couldn’t find out about you on the Internet?

Something people might be surprised to learn is that I can fly a single-engine airplane! I picked it up after I had the opportunity to fly in a private jet with my previous company where the CEO had his corporate pilot license. I love having the freedom to just jump in a plane and fly somewhere, as long as the weather is good.
